Does anyone know where the bus stop is at Barcelona Airport to get the bus to Palafrugell?

Hi Gary

The SARFA bus stop at Barcelona Airport is at T2 (Terminal 2) - in the bus parking area opposite the airport buildings, in between T2B and T2C. Look for the orange bus with Sarbus and Sarfa written on the side. There are several services to different towns on the Costa Brava, so check the front of the bus for the destination. The SARFA bus to Palafrugell from Barcelona Airport takes approximately 3 hours. There are 2 services per day 11.40 and 19.55, apart from in the summer months (July and August) where there are 6 services per day 09.55, 10.55, 13.55, 14.55, 17.55 and 19.55.

The bus to L'Estartit from Barcelona doesn't start running until 1st July.

So yes you'll have to catch the train to Flaca or Girona and catch a bus from there. You'll be cutting it fine time wise though to catch a bus given the time you land so you might have to get a taxi from Flaca or Girona.

Hi Allan,

That is the option I would choose as well. You only need to buy one unit (the unit is the ticket for the 4 family members). If it doesn't seem to working online I would buy it at the airport. I think it's better that way anyway as your plane might be late arriving.

Barcelona Airport to Palafrugell:

During the summer months (1st July - 31st August) the bus from Barcelona airport to Palafrugell goes at 35 minutes past every hour from 08:35 to 19:35 (but not at 14:35) There is also a bus at 17:05, 21:05 and 23:50.

For the rest of the year the bus goes at 10:15, 12:00, 14:00, 17:45 and 19:30


Barcelona city to Palafrugell:

During the summer months the bus from Barcelona city to Palafrugell goes half past every hour from 07:30 to 00:25. There is also a bus at 18:00 and 21:00.

For the rest of the year the bus goes at 8:30, 11:00, 12:45, 14:45, 16:15, 18:30 and 20:15

Hi Helen,

During the summer months (1st July - 31st August) there are 3 buses a day direct from Barcelona Airport to Camping Castell Montgri - at 11:50, 15:45 and 19:50. There are further buses from Barcelona city (Estacio del Nord) to Camping Castell Montgri at 08:30, 12:35, 16:30 and 20:35.

You could get a train from Barcelona to Girona and then a taxi from there (the last bus from Girona to L’Estartit goes at 20:45). However, the last train from Barcelona to Girona leaves at 21:55 so your chances of catching it are very slim.

The only other option is taxi I’m afraid. The distance is approximately 90km and will cost between 180-200€

Having spoken to SARFA we can confirm the following is correct as of 2016:

The SARFA ticket office is in Terminal 2 (T2) - The free green shuttle buses go every 6 minutes 24 hours a day between the two terminals, it takes about 10-15 minutes, and you catch the shuttle bus to T2 from just outside T1.

There are SARFA bus stops at Terminal 1 (T1) and T2.

There is no difference in price whether you buy the ticket online, at the ticket office or at the bus stops. If you book the ticket for a specific time you cannot change it to another time.

You can buy SARFA bus tickets online - SARFA bus from Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava. Please note that if you buy the tickets online they will be for a specific bus and so if your plane is late or it takes a while for you to disembark you might miss it, so give yourselves plenty of time. When you buy the ticket online you will be sent an e-mail confirming the booking - this is the only ticket you need to board the bus (the driver has a list of names of people who have booked).

Or you can buy the tickets at the SARFA ticket office in T2.

Or you can buy the tickets at the bus stop at T1 or T2 - where there will be an English speaking SARFA ticket seller. The SARFA bus stop at T1 is right outside the Arrivals building - on floor 0. The SARFA bus stop at T2 is across the street from the Arrivals building between T2B and T2C in front of the multi-storey car park.

The bus ticket print out from the Sarfa bus website is all you need to board the bus. You do not need to exchange it for an actual ticket at the ticket office.

At the moment it seems you can only buy Sarfa bus tickets from the actual ticket office. You cannot buy them online.

Sarfa buses now only provide you with the option to buy tickets from "Consult sale points" (local sales office) or at the Sarfa bus ticket office at the airport, in Terminal 2 or at Estacio Nord, on the first floor.

We have bought tickets several times at the ticket office in Estacio Nord and had no problems.

Buses to certain parts of the Costa Brava from Barcelona only run during the summer months 1st July - 31st August.

An alternative is to catch the train to Girona and then catch a bus from Girona to L’Estartit (see this post for bus details Girona to L'Estartit)

We were standing in the bus stance opposite the terminal waiting for the bus to Palamos last month (May 2016)

No bus appeared although there were other buses in the stance and also hotel limousines.

Quite by chance we looked back across the road and we saw a Sarfa bus. My daughter ran back across the road to check as we had two heavy suitcases with us. The bus driver was very short tempered exclaiming "Rapido rapido!")

My daughter raced back across this busy road to collect her own suitcase and to help me across the road.

We caught the bus by chance.

On our return journey we asked the bus driver if the bus stance had been changed and he said "SI SI "

So be careful .....as you could have a two hour wait for the next bus and you might have to purchase another ticket!

Impossible to find any contact details on the website of Sarfa......

I am travelling with small kids, so I want to be sure that there are seats available on the bus when we arrive at Barcelona at the end of the day.

Hi there everyone

We are going to be 2 people travelling to Spain and we are going to be in Barcelona on Thursday 3rd September. On that day, in the evening, we need to travel to Lloret de Mar and we are going to book a coach. These are the best options for us:

From Barcelona Estacio del Nord at 20.45
To Lloret Barri Pescadors (21.50)

Can you please confirm that we can catch the bus from Barcelona Estacio del Nord? Or do we need to go to the Airport from its departing point?

We also need to return from Lloret Barri Pescadors to Barcelona Airport T1 (18.55 - 20.55).

You buy the bus ticket from Barcelona Airport to Platja d’Aro online or on the bus.

The airport bus stops at the Platja D’Aro bus station only, it does not stop at individual hotels. The Platja d’Aro bus station is 350m from Caleta Palace Hotel, 10 minutes walk at most.

Hi Julie

It is about 4km from T1 to T2. There are free green shuttle buses that go every 6 minutes 24 hours a day between the two terminals. You can catch the shuttle bus to T2 from just outside T1. The journey takes about 10-15 minutes.

BUT most of the SARFA buses now stop at T1 too (they stop where the shuttle bus stops, right outside the terminal)!

You can buy tickets online or on the bus. Take a look at SARFA bus from Barcelona Airport to Costa Brava.

On the 1st of June I finally succeeded in buying tickets online for the trip on July 15.
But when trying to buy ticktets for the return on July 25th there is again no option to buy them online.
It does not seem very logical, so I 'll try every week now to see if it will work....

Good to know that it is also an option to buy tickets on the bus.

Sorry you're having problems Hans. I just went through the booking process on the SARFA website to the point where I had to put in my card details and it was working fine until that point. Perhaps the problem is happening after card details are entered though.

If you can't get through on the phone to SARFA, you could try phoning one of the Sales Points (offices where you can buy the tickets) - you can find these details when you start the booking process, there will be a link saying "consult sales points".

Alternatively, it is possible to buy tickets on the bus.

I am really getting desperate, trying to book bus tickets online, every time it ends up with a statements that this is not possible...

Any idea? I tried to call Sarfa several times, sent email, no contact at all. Not a good feeling, think I am going to look for an alternative...
